Victory in Europe (VE) Day!

Victory in Europe (VE) Day took place on the 8th of May 1945. It marked the formal conclusion of WWII in Europe and was a public holiday full of celebrations.  I have attached some information and activities for you to have a look at. These are not ‘must do’ activities but a choice. It would be lovely to see some of your work!

Hello everyone!

It’s a beautiful sunny day today, so I hope you can spend some time playing outside or going out for a walk.  If you are lucky enough to have a garden you might have noticed how quickly everything is growing because of all this lovely warm sunshine we are having.

I have been enjoying spending time in my own garden and taking care of my plants and flowers, and I usually like to visit the Botanic Garden in Edinburgh at this time of year because the flowers and plants there are amazing. But, just like a lot of other places just now, the gardens are closed and we can’t visit them.

There is a black cat called Marley who lives in the Botanic Gardens and if you click on the link below then scroll down to  click “Marley’s School of Garden Magic” you can then click on “Go exploring with Marley” and you can see some of the mischief he has been  getting up to while he has the gardens all to himself…

You can even email Marley to ask him a question or for some help with the activities!

We usually spend the last  term in school learning about how plants grow and planting some seeds so here are some activities for you to have a look at.

If  we had been in school this week as normal we would have been making some lovely spring flowers to decorate our classroom walls.  If you would like to make some paper hyacinths of your own have a look at the clip below.

Below are links to some worksheets for you to print at home, or if you come into school on Friday there might be someone who can print them for you to take home.

P6 Teams Guide

Hi P6 here is a guide to using the P6 Teams page as Mrs McDermott and I are changing things slightly, with regard to how we work on there.

Teams Guide

We would still encourage as many of you as possible to access Teams, as it is the best way we have for communicating directly with you all.  If you are still having trouble accessing Teams please comment below or contact the office at Harrysmuir and Mrs McDermott and I will do our best to help you out.

Thanks.

Take a Break :)

Morning P1 and P2/1 🙂

What a lovely morning to wake up to ! Lovely blue sky and nice warm sun🌞

Before the story, Mrs Meek received a piece of writing from her class!
Well done LM 🐱‍🏍

We would like to share that with you all. Super writing L. You included details about your favourite American President. I also really like that you remembered to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops correctly. We are especially impressed by your hand writing!

Here is the story for today. It is called Pog and the Birdies by Jane Simmons.

Outside Bingo

Wednesday 6th May 2020

Well it’s going to be another scorcher by the look of it today! I think the sun has been doing its very best to make up for us having to stay at home and not being able to see our family and friends.  As it’s such a lovely day why not have a game of outdoor bingo.  Make a note of all the things to look for before you go on your daily walk today.  If anyone manages to spot any of the items from the ‘Almost Impossible’ category send me a photo and I will send you a virtual prize!! 🙂 (morna.matthews@westlothian.org.uk)
