Only use approved AI tools
This means platforms, apps and websites that have been checked for safety, security and data protection, and follow the guidance in the platforms DPIA.
Use the WL Digilearn SharePoint page and the Digital Platforms and Services in Schools SharePoint page to help identify safe and approved platforms.

Use AI as a helper, not a decision maker
AI can support planning, resource creation, differentiation and accessibility but it must never replace your professional judgement.

Never put any pupil or staff data into an AI tool
This includes names, personal data, assessment data, ASN information, behaviour notes, images, reports or confidential documents.

Check everything AI produces
AI gets things wrong, you are responsible for verifying accuracy, suitability and bias before use.

Be transparent
If AI has significantly helped create materials or communications, be open about it.

Teach pupils to use AI responsibly
Focus on critical thinking, digital literacy, safe use and understanding AI’s limitations. Model responsible and ethical AI use in your own practice.
