This homework task was a continuation of techniques used within the first drawing session. Blind drawing, left handed drawing, continuous line, following the line across the page are methods employed to produce quite abstract, rather random drawings which aim to describe the line of the objects and their relationship to each other; no object should be seen in isolation but should work together as a group. These studies are A3 in size and may be further developed using printing and painting techniques.

Health and Well-being INSET 7th May, 2013 ‘Unlearn Art’
During the INSET afternoon on 7th May, I invited my colleagues in St. Margaret’s Academy to ‘Unlearn Art’. The invitation meant coming to the Art and Design department for the afternoon to spend what was to become real quality time, working together to produce artworks, with no preconceptions of what the outcomes were to be, not to worry about not being able to draw or paint and just simply enjoy being creative again, which for some meant not having lifted a paint brush since S2! Throughout the week I learned various really interesting techniques in Animation and produced my own Animations. I collaborated and shared ideas with various teachers and artists and found this a really worthwhile CPD opportunity. Continue reading Animation CPD

Visual Arts Practice 1
I plan to follow two lines of Practical Inquiry; landscape and figurative. Within landscape I plan to revisit two major paintings which have the potential for further development and which I have ‘intended’ to work on for some time. I am surrounded by art work both past and present which is an invaluable source of inspiration to me. Triptych and diptych works interest me as I look for the connection from one piece to the other, so this will become a line of inquiry. I want to return to these important paintings created in the past, select areas from them and by enlarging, manipulating and exploring a range of materials, create art work which focuses more on abstraction, composition, colour and line. Colour is very important to me; contrasting, bold, dramatic, so it may be a challenge to experiment with more muted tones and black and white. Line; I love the undulating line found in landscape and would love to explore what lies beneath the surface of the earth. Continue reading Statement of intent
