A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in planning, preparing and participating in the Pie, Pea and Bingo night. It was a huge success with the funds planned to go towards developments in the nursery garden. A special thanks to Mrs Bett who works so hard year after year to make the night such a great success. Another special thanks to The British Legion for their continued support and for tallying up the funds from £1860 to a whopping £2000! Thanks again, we look forward to next year.

Exploring building in many ways
This week we have been exploring building following an interest in the builders building an extension beside the nursery.
We added some new building materials to the outside construction site.
We have played with a wooden building set and then explored our new kids tool kit.
“WOW a helmet” “A hammer” – Max “Safety goggles!”- Sonny.
Annie knew exactly what to do with the screwdriver.
“I’m building a house”- Robyn.
We worked together to use the tools.
We learned what allen keys, spanners and pliers were for.

Mini Builders
The children were observing the workmen who were working on the roof of the house behind nursery and building an extension.
Ellie and Aria then began building in the stones making a house of stones, bricks and wood. This captured the interest of a wider group of children who then joined in and began to build pretending to hammer using the plastic bricks.
Miss Wilkins then introduced a large piece of wood, hammers and small nails to allow the children to safely practice using the tools on the workbench.
We had lots of lovely discussions about what we could build-aeroplanes, cars, different materials and types of houses etc.
If any of our parents have loose parts such as bricks and rubble, nuts and bolts, cable reels etc you can donate to our nursery to develop our nursery experiences we would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
VOLCANO!!

A busy Monday afternoon
This afternoon the children enjoyed a visit from Rose’s little brother: baby Miles. He is 4 months old. The children sang him some songs and answered questions on how to look after a baby like Miles. Miles was very happy to see all of the nursery children.
The children were playing lots of birthday role-play, singing happy birthday, cutting cake and getting a seat in the special birthday chair! Exciting!
There was also lots of outdoor play in dens and problem solving.
A busy Monday morning
This morning the children have been exploring the first signs of Spring by painting still life Daffodils. Some beautiful pictures have been created which will be coming home very soon.
There has been a lot of amazing structures being built in the brick area and Lewis even managed to build his own drum kit!
The children have started building their own Volcano since there’s been a sudden interest in these. Throughout the week we will be experimenting to see if we can make a Volcano erupt!
Finally we have been learning about sharing with some new food items in the home area, where the children have been busy chopping fruit and veg.
