Primary 1 and 1/2 have been working hard with Mrs Stewart to make products for our Toy Shop display. We have been learning about toys in our topic so we thought we would make a bright and attractive display of robots, dolls, teddy bears, balloons and kites. We are going to make some of our own labels this week to add onto our display to make it even better.

In Primary 4 we have been learning about castles. We were inspired by the work of Paul Klee, an artist who makes works of art using 2D shapes. We made our own castles and towns using brickwork collage paper as a background, black pens for the outlines of our buildings and then used crayons to make them bright and colourful.

Deans Gala Day Committee are looking for names of children interested in taking part in this year’s Pageant.
At this moment the Committee will need a note of your child’s name, age and what school your child attends.
There are various roles available, please see below:
Gala Queen – 10yrs – 12yrs old
Lady in Waiting – 10yrs – 12yrs old
Princesses – 10yrs – 12yrs old
Flower Girls – 5yrs – 10yrs old
Rainbow Girls – 5yrs – 10yrs old
Herald – 10yrs – 12yrs old
Princes – 10yrs – 12yrs old
Guards – 5yrs – 10yrs old

Over the Christmas break Primary 7 were tasked with a personal project comparing the UK Biome with another elsewhere in the world. A Biome is a large area of land with a distinct climate and forms of life. This may span over a number of different countries.
The work produced by Primary 7 was fantastic and it was obvious a great deal of effort had been made. Miss Garrett from the High School visited last week and listened to each of the children make a short presentation on their findings. She left having been impressed by the knowledge and the way that the class were able to talk about their learning.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Health and Wellbeing Showcase on Friday. Â Pupils and parents joined in a variety of activities and learned all about our Health and Wellbeing curriculum at Meldrum Primary School.

Briony, one of the assessors for Eco Schools Scotland, paid us a visit today to decide whether we had completed enough work to award us another Green Flag award.
She spoke to the Eco Committee, pupils, staff and took a tour of the school. She looked at our evidence folders, displays and the school development plan. Briony was delighted at our progress with the school grounds and also with our focus areas for 2014-2016 which are Litter, Health and Sustainability (Sustaining our World) and for this reason she was pleased to give us the award. She will send a new flag and a summary report shortly, which we will share with you all.
Congratulations everyone. A job well done.

A big thank you to our Morrisons Community Champion, Fiona Hendry, for organising some plants to help with the development of our sensory garden. We now have more herbs and lavendar plants planted and elsewhere on our school grounds are tubs of dwarf conifers. In the spring we will transplant the dwarf conifers into bigger tubs and these shall be their forever home.
