P7 welcome Miss Thomson from the High School

As part of the transition program to the High School, the Primary 7 class were visited today by Miss Thomson from the Maths department at Deans CHS. This was the first of four visits from Miss Thomson and she worked on decimals with the class. The class enjoyed the afternoon and took the opportunity to demonstrate just how well they can work.

They are now looking forward to next Thursday morning where they visit the High School for a further transition morning.

Litter Survey

First of all some pupils collected the litter from the play ground. After that me, Millie and Jamie looked at the stuff that the younger pupils brought in from the play ground. We then wrote down the results and Millie has put the results in a bar graph to display on our noticeboard. Sweetie wrappers where the most common and the least common were cartons and bottles. Can we remind you to put your rubbish in the bin. Thank you.

Bird Feeding

P4 have started their campaign to keep the birds fed as the weather gets colder. Today they worked with P2/3 to add food to the bird tables and willow feeders outside the P2/3 classroom.

P7 invent devices to help those with disabilities

Primary 7 have been looking at how technology has helped those with disabilities. As part of the project they all had a personal project to complete. Their task was to design a prototype of a product which would help those with disabilities. We have had some amazing designs and products brought in – from a jar opener to glasses which project images into the brain for those with difficulty seeing. The quality of work has impressed all the teachers and it is clear a great deal of thought has been put into the designs.

P7 consider the impact of Technology

Primary 7 have been conducting a survey with parents. They have been looking at some of the differences in technology between current time and when their parents were age 10/11. They have taken the results and produced bar charts to highlight the differences between then and now. The results can be seen on the wall outside of the GP Room. What do you think? Has technology had a negative impact on children?
