‘Jammin’ Andy gets Meldrum active.
Meldrum had a visit from ‘Jammin’ Andy McKechnie today. Andy is a motivation speaker on Health and Wellbeing and mixes messages on Health and Wellbeing with physical movement and exercise.
The whole school had an assembly in the morning and everyone (including teachers!) took part in performing a dance based around both the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
Individual classes then had sessions with Andy and focused on more specific skills.
The whole school had an enjoyable and active day!

Primary 6 Scientists
In Primary 6 we have been looking at the effect the fertilizer has on plant growth. We planted radish seeds in compost and fed them a different amount of liquid fertilizer (Miracle-Gro). We measured the seedlings over a period of 10 days and recorded the results in a table. These results were then plotted onto graph paper and also electronically represented on a spreadsheet.
Primary 6 collated all the information into a scientific report, proving that their hypothesis was correct.

P7 welcome Miss Thomson from the High School
As part of the transition program to the High School, the Primary 7 class were visited today by Miss Thomson from the Maths department at Deans CHS. This was the first of four visits from Miss Thomson and she worked on decimals with the class. The class enjoyed the afternoon and took the opportunity to demonstrate just how well they can work.
They are now looking forward to next Thursday morning where they visit the High School for a further transition morning.

Litter Survey
First of all some pupils collected the litter from the play ground. After that me, Millie and Jamie looked at the stuff that the younger pupils brought in from the play ground. We then wrote down the results and Millie has put the results in a bar graph to display on our noticeboard. Sweetie wrappers where the most common and the least common were cartons and bottles. Can we remind you to put your rubbish in the bin. Thank you.

Bird Feeding
P4 have started their campaign to keep the birds fed as the weather gets colder. Today they worked with P2/3 to add food to the bird tables and willow feeders outside the P2/3 classroom.
