P7 Learn some Sign-Along
Primary 7 have been working on learning some Sign-Along with the help of Jakki.
They have learnt the alphabet and some other words to describe animals, food and activities.
They have enjoyed the lessons and can sign their name. My challenge for next week is to learn their names to be able to sign them at assembly!

Rainbow Room
It has a been busy week in the Rainbow Room this week. Every group thoroughly enjoyed helping to make a giant hand print rainbow for the room.
Yesterday we were very excited as our parents came to visit us in the Rainbow Room. We enjoyed showing them our room and all our work.
Brodie liked making the snack with his mum and Jack liked showing his mum the room and all his tokens.

P5 visit to Lime Kiln
As part of out Food and Health topic, Primary 5 visited the Lime Kiln restaurant on Wednesday. We had a tour of the kitchen, created our own salads, decorated biscuits and had a delicious lunch.
Primary 5 asked the chef and manager loads of great questions, here are some of the many things we found out:
‘I learned that different coloured chopping boards are used for different foods.’ – Luke M
‘I learned that the meat has to go at the bottom of the fridge because if it is at the top it might drip onto other foods.’ – Scott
‘I learned that the freezer is minus 18 degrees. We couldn’t stay in there for very long.’ – Abbey
‘I learned that they have up to 6 chefs when they are busy.’ – Shane
‘I discovered I like olive oil on salad.’ – Samuel
Thank you to all the staff at the Lime Kiln for an informative, fun and tasty visit!

Primary 4 celebrate on Diwali
After working hard for weeks, Primary 4 earned enough marbles to reach the top of their Farthing Wood chart. We celebrated with all our favourite activities including ocarina. Since it was Divali, the classroom had lights and flowers. Goodness knows who arranged the snow. It was all very exciting and the children all played and shared beautifully. Well done P4. Can’t wait for the next one.

Environmental Review Results
Mrs Stewart has read over our completed environmental reviews for this year and collated the results.
Here are the results.
We would like:
• Bins on the football pitch when it is completed
• Litter rewards/sanctions
• Playground equipment for climbing
• Shelter in the playground
• More activities/teaching about energy and waste
• Recycle more- lunch hall and kitchen waste
• Classes reminded to switch off electrical equipment after use
• Involve the community more in school life
• Outdoor vegetable planting
Some of these we can fix quickly and over the next few months we will be doing more to address them. Some of them will take longer and involve a lot of planning. However, we will see what we can do. Thank you for completing the reviews. We were sorry to hear that some classes had problems saving them. We will pass this information onto our eco assessor when she comes.
