Primary 7 and Primary 3 teamed up for Scottish Book Week. We had lots of fun learning g together. We met up for 3 lessons in total. The first lesson we explored the read, write and count gift bags. The second session we worked in our reciprocal reading strategies for the book ‘Octopus Shocktopus’ and then last session we did some art activities together. Check out some of our amazing learning by below.
Anti-bullying week
Last week on anti-bullying week we all made a bullying vs conflict poster to show what is conflict and what is bullying to help people understand the difference between conflict and bullying. We made Pudsey masks with our buddies from P3. The whole class watched a video about anti-bullying week just to help us to have a bigger understanding. We learned about odd socks day and why it is an important day and how its relevant to bullying.
P3 Buddies
We made an octopus with our buddies, and they all turned out amazing! We also read a book called octopus shock-topus which tied in with our octopus art. We got a booklet about the book octopus shock topus which had some fun activities and a book review! We got to explore some things inside our read write and learn, bags it had 2x books 1x red pencil 1x notebook 1x whiteboard pen 1x measuring tape and 1x parent club book (isn’t relevant). We got to measure some things with our measuring tape around the classroom.
Pudsey Day
On Children in need day (Pudsey day) everyone got to wear their pj’s to school or something yellow. It was really fun!

Another week back in school and we are having so much fun!
In numeracy this week, we have been focusing on sharing items, writing calculations and fractions.
We have also celebrated World book day this week! We listened to Tom Fletcher reading his book ‘There’s an alien in your book’.
Miss Gorman’s class created a planets for the alien to live on, using felt tips, paper and glitter! We all had great fun imagining what creatures lived on our planets.
Mrs Howley’s class also made amazing bookmarks!
In PE this week, we were practicing our football skills! We were working on spatial awareness, dribbling and control.
In topic this week, Mrs Howley’s class discussed the key features of a village and created their own maps using a key.
Homework is for this week is up on Seesaw.
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and see you all on Monday!

Tomorrow is World Book Day and the teachers have lots of fun activities planned for you to try, be sure to check on Seesaw and Teams for more details. I can’t wait to see everyone dedicating some time to reading for enjoyment and learning from real authors virtually too! It is sure to be a fun day although it is different to usual.
We would love to see you get involved in some competitions that are running this week and you could even win some books or vouchers! The teacher’s will explain these to you in more detail. But here is an outline of one you could try:
Bring your book to life
We want you to show us how you bring your favourite books to life. Are reading together with a potato or wooden spoon transformed into your favourite book character, or with your favourite book in a bottle or shoe box? Or, are you reading dressed up like someone from a book? Let your imagination run wild! We want you to show us how you bring your favourite books to life. Here is this year’s £1 book selection. There is a little something for everyone in this bunch:
I hope you all have a booktastic day!
We’ve had a busy last week in P2!
We watched an excerpt of The Snawman, read by Matthew Fitt who translated the original Raymond Brigg’s story into Scots and then took part in a draw-a-long with author/illustrator Benji Davies. The illustration was taken from his book The Snowflake and was really quite challenging. However, the finished illustrations turned out beautifully! It’s well worth zooming in to see the detail.
We also made some fantastic Rudolph hats to watch our Christmas movie in.
And finally, P2 have been learning to sign We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Click on the link to watch us in action!
Wishing you all a merry Christmas and very best wishes for 2021!
Well what a busy week we have had with Book Week Scotland and Anti-bullying Week! That’s not even mentioning all our usual work too 😅
We have been excited about our new novel ‘Wonder’, creating a collaborative piece focusing on the positives we bring. We think it’s just WONDERful! #BookWeekScotland
We also got creative and wrote poems about bullying from the perspective of different people. Sending a clear message to the bullies out there. Here just a small selection-
Have a great week,
P6 & Miss Lynch
Primary Four have been working hard on their persuasive writing recently (my sincere apologies to those of you now being ‘persuaded’ by these negotiating wizards).
Since the theme of Book Week was all about the ‘future’ we decided to write some letters to our favourite villains to persuade them of the benefit of changing their ways.
We really took our time setting out letters correctly and using emotive and powerful words to really tug on the villains’ heartstrings and get them to mend their ways.
