Why study Photography?

Photography is an important form of visual communication. Imagine a world without it and you will realise just how widely photographic, and particularly digital, images are used in a range of sectors and industries, from advertising and printing to broadcasting and film making.

Photographs are widely used in our everyday lives to capture important events, people, places and situations. We also use them to help us to understand the world around us and to express our ideas, thoughts and feelings in an artistic way.

What will I study?

This course is designed to inspire and challenge you to visually represent your personal thoughts and ideas through photography. You will plan, develop and produce imaginative photographs using the technical and creative skills you will learn during the course. You will develop a knowledge and understanding of photographic practices, and a range of skills in problem solving, critical thinking and reflective practice. You will analyse the impact of social and cultural influences on photographers and their work.
