Science and Social Subjects

All children are given the opportunity to develop a

curiosity and understanding of their environment, develop skills of

scientific enquiry and investigation and be able to express informed opinions.

Local Studies and the Local Environment are very important and the

children start in P1 looking at ‘Themselves and their Families’,

progressing as they get older to studying ‘The School Community’

and then to the ‘Local Community’.

By P7 the children will be studying and investigating the Wider

Community both past and present and also

Local and National Government.

Interdisciplinary experiences are both planned and responsive,

while core lessons are also delivered. Pupils will explore and develop

their skills during themed approaches .

Topics include- Planet Earth, Materials, Forces

and Biological Systems.
