This Friday will be a fun day for the school and nursery.
Children may wear their casual clothes and can either bring a packed lunch from home or order one from the school canteen.
On Friday Logan and a Support Worker from the Blue Triangle in Hamilton visited P3/4 to tell them what being homeless means . We have just read Mr Stink which is a story depicting a dirty, smelly, abandoned and homeless man. We wondered if this was a true depiction and so contacted Blue Triangle to ask some questions. Before we knew it, we had made positive links with Blue Triangle and had a visitor come to our school. What a surprise P3/4 got when this smiling , trendy young man stepped into our classroom. Logan told the class why he was not with his family , about life in The Blue Triangle and most importantly of all to them ….that he builds and stunt rides BMX Bikes!! From there the children went on to discuss favourite sweeties and football teams. Within minutes stereotypical attitudes about the Homeless in the local Community were quelled in a very positive, friendly and interesting way thanks to Logan and Elaine. Another example of St Elizabeth`s Values and Catholic Mission Statement, in action.
