Yet Another Fabulous Author Visit ! 29/9/16

Today Lindsay Littleson  left her usual  classroom teacher role to tell Senior pupils all about her book called The Mixed Up Summer .Lindsay explained all about her time growing up in Glasgow ,complete with photographs, and how this  began her love of books. The children thoroughly enjoyed her Talk and many queued up to buy a signed novel to read at DEAR (Drop Everything and Read )Time tomorrow  when back in class.As you can see  from both Author Visits this week ,we are really trying to promote Literacy and Reading For Enjoyment in as many exciting ways as possible. Please keep up the good work at home.

Author Visit – Ross Mackenzie

Today we welcomed Ross MacKenzie, the author of ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ to our school. He talked to us about being an author and the books that he had written.

Ross’ book has won the Blue Peter Children’s Book Award and the Scottish Book Trust Award.

Holy Cross Pupils Help Celebrate European Day of Languages 27/9/16

Today Mr David Robertson from the Holy Cross Languages Department, very kindly  arranged  for and accompanied some sixth year students as they  visited each class to speak about the values of learning a foreign language. These students discussed what learning a new language involves  and why they chose to do so. Not to be outdone, classes then proudly sang and conversed in Spanish  to the delight of their guests. Mr Robertson was very impressed  with our knowledge of and enthusiasm for Spanish .Muy bien ninos y ninas y gracias senor Robertson y gracias adultos jóvenes.

Neighbourly Invitations To Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September

Primary 5 pupils from P5/6 wrote then delivered some very colourful  Coffee Morning Invitations for the St Elizabeth`s Macmillan Coffee Morning on  Friday 30th September at 9.30am, to our local residents .Pictured is Mrs Finlay receiving her invitation surrounded by smiling pupils and Ava handing over her invitation too. We extend a very warm welcome to all our nearby neighbours and please look out for your invitation coming  through the post very soon. Hope to see you there.

P1/2  never knew there were so many 2D shapes in their Yard until they began to explore one sunny day.Within minutes they were shouting square,triangle and other shape names  as they posed beside their ” newly found exhibits “. Outdoor Learning,Maths and loads of fun. Next time you`re out and about why not go on your own Shape Hunt ....and don`t forget to e-mail in your snaps!!
