Cake and Candy Total

Last week’s Cake and Candy raised a grand total of £322.35!  Thank you so much to everyone for contributing in any way to this and many thanks to our children in P7 who helped manage the whole affair.  This money is going in to school funds and will be used to buy for our classrooms and houses…so far we have bought little individual bells that we will use during language activities, various activities and resources to help with our house system and some small pieces of electronic equipment for our school.  Thank you everyone!

School Gritter Naming Competition!!

School Gritter Naming Competition info

We need your school’s help to name 8 dedicated gritters that the council has in its fleet.

We are running a competition across all South Lanarkshire’s primary schools to come up with 8 winter-related names, the funnier and the punnier the better J

Pupils should be as creative as possible – Gritty McGritface just won’t cut the mustard.

We suggest that this would be ideal for P4-P7 as fits in with language, road safety, geography and, at a push, citizenship.

We are hoping to place the gritters on a live map of the area so the names will be there for the public to see, as well as on the side of the lorry.

We would like you to send your school’s best three entries. How you choose these is up to you – you could be the judge or there could be a school vote (this would then tie into democracy in the curriculum). The closing date for us to receive your entries is September 30 and to make life as easy as possible you should use this online form the send your best three entries –https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/grittercompetition
