World Book Day 2020
Primary 3 celebrated World Book Day 2020 by bringing in and reading their favourite books. They shared their favourite books with their friends and explained why they liked them. They decorated potatoes to create characters from books. Thank you to the Primary 7 and 6 pupils who helped with the potatoes!

POETRY WRITING
Primary 3 have been writing class, group and individual poems. We have been working on acrostic poems which have the subject of the poem written down the side so that each line of the poem has to start with a specific letter.
We worked in groups to generate ideas and then used our ideas for our poems. Everyone worked really hard and came up with some great lines for their poems.
Ailsa is leading this group and recording everyone’s ideas.
Munro is leading this group as they make up sentences for their poems.
Ethan is leading this group as they make up sentences.
All of the groups worked hard to make interesting sentences for their poems.
Neive is taking a turn to be group leader as we do ‘poetry magic’ by arranging the different sentences into poems.
Zac is leading this group in the ‘poetry magic’ as they stick down their sentences to make a poem.
Here is one of the poems from our ‘poetry magic’ lesson:
Amazonia Trip
Everyone had a great day at Amazonia . We learned about the rainforest environment and about the animals that live there.
We will be learning more in class and researching some of the animals we saw.
Here are just a few of the photos.
A red epiphyte and some other rainforest plants.
Learning about the monkeys.
Jai is trying to spot one of the animals.
Can you spot the animal looking at Luke?
Blue morpho butterflies camouflage themselves when they are eating. The marks on their wings look like eyes and scare off predators. When they open their wings, they are bright blue.
Looking at the macaws.
Australia Day
We talked about the devastation caused by the fires in Australia in class.
Lots of children had learned about it when they were looking for a current news item about the environment.
We coloured in Australian flags and Mrs Laing held a special assembly. Camilla-Belle and Munro wrote a special prayer for Australia. Mrs Howie helped them write it down, but the ideas were all their own. They read it at assembly and other children read their research about the fires.
Our Book Swap Day
A huge thank you to everyone who donated books and cakes or brought money to help to raise funds on our Book Swap Day. Everyone really enjoyed it. Here are some photos of the day.
Scottish Country Dancing in January
Primary 3 are learning different Scottish dances. We listened to the music and clapped rhythms and then we practised different dance steps. Camilla-Belle, Lucy, Andi and Jessica are demonstrating how to ‘circle for eight’ brilliantly.
Social Dancing
Primary 3 and 4 started dancing together in December in preparation for their joint Christmas party and both classes are now continuing to learn new Scottish dances. Before learning a whole new dance they warmed up by clapping, walking and skipping for eight beats and listening to Scottish dance music.
Santa visits Primary 3
After our party we had a special visitor in our class.
Everyone had a chance to talk to Santa and then we sang him our song form the show, ‘Listen!’
Primary 3 and 4 Christmas Party 2019
Primary 3 and Primary 4 had a fantastic Christmas Party on Wednesday! Here are a few pictures from the day.
Everyone arrived ready to party!
The dancing was brilliant!
Faith and Lucy were our lucky pass-the-parcel winners!
We played The Grand Old Duke of York too.
Back to class for snacks!
We had a great day!
