Living and Non-Living

After our Mini-beast Hunt, we learned more about living and non-living things. We started by drawing pictures of the Scottish environment we live in and labelling the things we thought were living in green and the non-living things in red. We worked in teams so if we couldn’t agree about whether something was living or non-living we put a question mark.

Remembrance Day 2019

Primary 3 observed the 2 minute silence on the 11th of November 2019. We learned about why poppies are sold at this time of year. We made poppies and watched a short film about the history of the Poppy Appeal.

Pattern in Art

Winnie the Witch sent Primary 3 some letters asking for their help. She needed her hat, tights and cauldron decorated with curved, straight and coloured patterns. Everyone was very keen to help and created some amazing patterns.

Here are some of the finished cauldrons for Winnie.

Sukkot

Primary 3 have been learning about the ‘Jewish Harvest Festival of Sukkot’ and we finished off the topic by building ‘sukkahs’ in class and eating our fruit in them. The Primary 7s helped to build and decorate the sukkahs with the decorations we had made in class so a huge thank you to them!

Active Literacy

We have been using ‘Active Spelling Strategies’ to help us to learn to spell our phoneme words and our common words in Primary 3. We used magnetic boards, wordsearches, Elkonin boxes, rainbow writing and a ‘Build a Word’ activity to help us to learn. We worked independently and with partners. Everyone worked really hard! Keep it up Primary 3!
