Pupil Equity Funding is provided by the Scottish Government directly to schools and is targeted at improving outcomes for young people impacted by poverty, with a focus on closing the poverty related attainment gap.
Within Lesmahagow High School, Miss Leckenby is our Lead Teacher of Equity and Inclusion and Mrs Miller is our Care Experienced Champion. Miss Leckenby and Mrs Miller work closely with pupils, parents/carers and staff to support young people through a range of projects and activities.
Over the past few years, Pupil Equity Funding has been utilised to provide support with:
- costs linked to the school day, including additional uniform items, PE kits, trips, lunches, study equipment
- literacy and numeracy – 1-1 support and online learning support
- opportunities – Dynamic Youth Awards, Wellbeing Awards, Mental Health Awards, after school clubs.
Our Lead Teachers of Equity also raise awareness of:
- Free School Meals
- Clothing Grants for School Uniform
- National Entitlement Cards to support under 22 free bus travel
- UCAS fee waiver for students entitled to Free School Meals.
