Dear Guest,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to Lesmahagow High School’s website, which we hope will provide you with helpful and useful information.
Lesmahagow High School is a six-year comprehensive school, serving the villages of Coalburn, Lesmahagow, Kirkmuirhill, Blackwood, Auchenheath and surrounding areas. The school roll is 644 (August 2024). A small school offers many advantages; one of the most important is that pupils are known as individuals by staff and they feel very much part of the school community.
The school was built close to the original school site and opened in August 2007. Our school has a large “Street” area, bright wide corridors and two teaching blocks with high quality teaching facilities. This provides a modern learning environment for all subject areas.
Our shared vision is ‘Together we Learn; Together we Achieve; Together we Succeed’. Our core values are Commitment, Ambition, Resilience and Equity. Our vision and values were developed through consultation with pupils, parents/carers, staff and partners, and emphasise the importance of togetherness and our caring ethos.
Our standards and expectations are ‘Be Prepared, Be Engaged, Be Respectful’. We stress the importance of a purposeful and ordered working atmosphere, where our young people are safe, valued and secure. We want all of our young people to realise their full potential in all aspects of school life. We are very proud of the wide range of learning opportunities and pathways we provide for our young people. This is supported by an extensive programme of wider-curricular activities.
We aim to develop successful partnerships with parents and our wider community for the benefit of all of our young people. In doing so we acknowledge your continued support and the hard work of our committed Parent Council and our successful and developing partnerships.
You are welcome to get in touch with us about any matter relating to your child’s education here or the wider school community and we always welcome your suggestions and comments.
Kind regards,
Barbara Lee
