Update:
On the 21st of February we were delighted to hear that we had been awarded Silver in the Reading Awards Scheme. We have all worked hard to achieve this award and we are loving enjoying reading.
This session we have registered to take part in the Reading Schools Award Scheme.
Reading Schools is an accreditation programme for schools that are committed to building a culture of reading for their learners and communities. It is brought to us by Scottish Book Trust.
We have applied in the Silver category of this award as an audit showed we had already passed the criteria for the Core Level.
We have submitted our action plan for the Silver Award
Author visits help us gain accreditation.
Comfortable reading spaces encourage us all to read more.
We have 3 libraries in school to encourage us to read.
Children are encouraged to read their own stories to staff and other pupils.

Reader of the Week Certificates
We have introduced a Reader of the Week in school. Each week the staff will choose someone who has read well, read often or has expressed a particular interest in reading.That pupils will be awarded with a certificate designed and made by Sophie in P6, a book mark and a book swap token.
