STEM challenge 1 – oil slick

We had a visit from STEM co-ordinators, Eleanor and Emma. They challenged P4-7 to create a contraption to remove oil for the sea. The class were given various materials to simulate animals, birds and land. The children could see how bad oil is for wildlife and land, and just how difficult it is to lift oil from water. The Braer disaster was discussed and ongoing negative impacts on the environment were discussed.
