- on mon 30th Ms Hutcheson did an Up Helly Aa bookbug session in the library, some parents managed to come and join us too
- Ms Hutcheson read a story called ‘the viking who liked icing’ then we sang our viking rhymes and practised the Up Helly Aa song.
- After we had our bookbug session we had a mini procession around the nursery
- We sang the up Helly Aa song and threw our torches in the galley
- We also had the Education Scotland’s mascot ‘Doug’ visiting for Up Helly Aa day, he met Harold the viking and bookbug
- Doug liked sitting in our galley boat
- He met our Viking cushion
- Doug enjoyed playing in the up helly Aa tough tray playing with the firey rice!
- Doug really liked our school Up Helly Aa flag he especially liked the raven
- We made our own hats, shields and torches
- we practiced our Viking rhymes we have been learning
- the junior jaryl squad came and they had a band playing the Up Helly Aa Song
- we saw their lovely suits and shields, their helmets and axes were really shiny
- We joined in singing the Up Helly Aa song
- My grandad and Uncle are in the senior Jaryl squad and they gave me a shield to keep
- Our Dad came to visit with the junior jaryl squad
- My Dad was playing in the senior jaryl squad’s band, he came with his band and played the up helly Aa song while we were eating our lunch
