School Meals and Parent Pay

School Meals:

Sandwick Junior High School canteen serve meals daily to children across ELC, Primary and Secondary. School meals for children in Early Years and Primary 1 to 5 are free. School meals for Primary 6 and 7 are £2.50 and Secondary meals are £3.00.

Parent Pay:

Payment for school milk and/or meals is made using ParentPay, the online payment platform used by schools in Shetland.  ParentPay – Leading Cashless Payment System for Schools

To activate an account on ParentPay, parents/carers will receive a username and activation code from the school office.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you have questions or queries regarding ParentPay. Please be aware that by the end of each school term, milk and meal payments for your child should be up to date.

Clothing Grant:

A Clothing Grant is a grant awarded to children from families on a low income to help towards the cost of clothing and footwear.

The Clothing Grant awards are as follows:

  • Early Years – £150
  • Primary – £180
  • Secondary – £225

Pupils who turn 16 on or before 30th September will not be eligible for a Clothing Grant but should apply for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) instead. These pupils will still be eligible for Free School Meals, if they meet the criteria.
