Feather science

This term we are looking at the seashore environment. This week we carried out an experiment with feathers (thanks to SOTEAG for the kit box). We examined a dry feather, then wet it to see how the water ran off. Next we dipped it in oil and noticed how the feather became sticky and heavy. What do you think this means for our sea birds if there is an oil spill? Then we washed the feather with soap and found we could remove the oil.

Beach fun

Hi everyone. This is just a wee test post and a chance to share some photos of our end of term trip to the beach on Monday. We were lucky with the weather and it was great to see the children playing, exploring and working together. I certainly enjoyed showing a few of them how to fly a stunt kite (no pictures sorry). Have a great summer everyone and see you in August!
