Chloe from the Shetland Library visited our class for a special Christmas Book Bug session. We enjoyed listening to a story called This Rock is Mine that reminded us the importance of sharing. We also enjoyed singing some Christmas songs.

Primary 1A were curious about the changes that take place in nature during winter. We explored the wildlife area to see what we could notice…
Primary 1 have been very excited about the recent snowy weather. They’ve had fun making snow angels, snow potions and have worked together to make some wonderful snow creatures ☃️❄️
Primary 1 enjoyed taking part in the Children in Need fund raising activities in school that were organised by Primary 7.
They were also delighted to get a visit from Pudsey on Friday afternoon!
As a school, we raised £552.23, well done and thank you!

We have been learning about shapes recently.
Our learners worked patiently and collaboratively on different shape challenges:
Find the Shape Treasure Hunt:
How high can you build the tower by adding one block at a time:
Build a wall that Humpty Dumpty can balance on:
There’s been lots happening in the P1 outdoor area recently!
Our learners showed curiosity and creativity when exploring the effects of friction. They observed how putting sand in the drain pipe slowed down the speed the cars slid down; adding more sand to make the car go slower and taking the sand away to make it go faster.
Out learners showed the skills of communication and collaboration when creating a home for a spider they found in one of the tyres in our outdoor area. They discussed what the spider would need to stay alive and be comfortable.
More creative skills were displayed with drawings and mark making and designing a “rainbow” plank.
And wonderful creative and innovative skills were on show during the creation of a pirate ship with our learners working collaboratively to add everything they needed to the ship including a wheel and small life raft.
In our class, we have been talking about how important it is to use kind words, kind hands and kind feet. This helps keep everyone safe, helps everyone feel included and helps everyone feel happy!
