This week Primary 7 have been developing their coding skills. We coded our Microbits to make seismometers. We were able to measure how much the paper plates were shaking, mimicking and earthquake.

We had a few changes to the equipment this week. The wide box was a section higher, the narrow beam came after the wider benches and at the frame, the ropes were out. When discussing the equipment set up, we spoke about changes of height, direction and width.
Here we are in action.
In art P7 have been looking at the artist Jaqueline Hurely.
We have tried to recreate her style using paint, charcoal, chalk and charcoal pencils.
Using these materials we have focused on creating texture for the background before drawing out a silhouette image.
The final effects are beautiful, very thought provoking, well done!
This week we have been enjoying the snowy days!
Recently we have been learning the properties of different types of triangles so we had a go at making them in the snow.
We have been busy in the gym doing gymnastics. We started on the mats developing our floor skills, focusing mainly on rolls, handstands and cartwheels. We have had one week of the equipment, where we explored all the different stations.
Our enterprising P7s have excelled themselves this year, organising two days worth of fun packed activities for the whole school.
Well done you have managed to raise £552.23 for Children in Need.
To start of term 2 we had a fantastic visit from the Glasgow Science Centre. Pupils learned all about castles and finished with a crime scene workshop which focused on pupils collaborating to solve the mystery of skeletons found in Stirling Castle!
We have finished the term in PE with Hockey. We continued to develop our basic stick skills and play in small sided games. We followed the rules of
Ask your child about the block and how they got on.

In Art p7 have been inspired by the work of artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Having looked at her work and discussed her technique pupils spent a couple of weeks experimenting with different paints and drawing materials to try to achieve her technique. Once confident with the materials, pupils then created a final picture inspired by O’Keeffe.
There was lots of learning happening when experimenting!
