Today Primary 5 had a visit from the Newton Room.  We learned all about the Atlantic Salmon.  We learned about their life cycle, predators and prey.

We then spent time learning about aquaculture.  The class split into groups to design their own salmon feed.  They conducted experiments to test how shape and size affected it’s sinking ability.  This is important as salmon won’t eat the feed if it sinks too quickly to the bottom.  Teams had to design a logo and a pitch to sell their best feed.  They worked hard on being persuasive.  It was great fun measuring, costing and making their recipes. Teams had to decide how much to sell the feed for to ensure they made a profit.

After each team had pitched their feed a winner was chosen.  Well done to the winning team.
