Leadership Term 3-Literacy Week

P5 organised literacy week in term 3. We did lots of fun activities including a quiz where you had to answer the questions about a book or character.

We decorated the classroom doors to be like our class novels and we organized book buddies where P5s went down to the infant wing to read stories to the children.

We thought the activities were enjoyable, really fun and helped make our school look vibrant.

Term 3 PE Update

This week we begin our third four‑week block of PE. So far this term, the class has enjoyed learning dance and handball, and we wanted to share what we’ve been working on.

Dance

In our dance block, pupils explored how to use movement to express ideas. We focused on:

  • Using imagination and responding to different stimuli
  • Travelling, stillness, shapes, jumps and gestures
  • Changing rhythm, speed, level and direction
  • Repeating patterns in movement
  • Showing expression and confidence

The children had great fun experimenting with creative movement and performing short sequences.

Handball

During handball, we concentrated on building throwing and catching skills and taking part in small‑sided games. Pupils learned some of the key rules of the sport:

  • Players have 3 seconds to pass or shoot
  • Players may take 3 steps only while holding the ball

We also practised moving into space to make successful passes and talked about how handball is a fast‑paced, exciting team game.

Art Lesson

In Art p5 have been learning how to create a sea collage.

Fist we created some textured papers by applying the paint to the paper in different ways.

We then created a sea collage and created our own unique galley design that we then added onto the collage.

The final results were amazing, well done p5!

  • High Ladder – Encourages climbing skills and confidence.
  • High Bench – Adds variety for balancing and creative movement.

Leadership Term 2

What we did in the Leadership

Primary 5 decided to work on inside playtime to make it more enjoyable.

First we split up into groups to organise all the different jobs we had to do.

We went around the classrooms to see which rooms were available and to figure out what activities to do in each room.

The activities we decided to do in the different rooms were Just Dance, Board Games, Movie, Lego and Drawing.

We made posters for the doors to tell people what activities was in each classroom. We also made rules. We tried to make the rules positive so everyone would have fun.

We think this was really successful and people enjoyed inside playtime more.
