Dance

P5 started the term in PE with a dance block.  We covered a lot of different topics making us think about how we moved, the direction we took and when we started, stopped or changed action.

The 2 videos below show us skipping and stopping for 8 counts each, working in two groups performing the opposite action from each other.  The first video shows our first attempt.  We then discussed how we could improve and practiced counting, moving and stopping as one group before trying again as 2 groups.  We also spoke about listening to the phrases of the music to help us stay in time.  The second video shows the improvements we made and how we used the space better.

I think you will agree that the practice and discussions made a huge difference and the task was performed so much better the second time.

Christmas party Games

Today in PE we had our Christmas party games.  Here we are in action.

P5 Leadership – Cook & Share

Primary 5 decided to focus on cooking for their leadership activity this term. With support from Alison Beattie, our Head Cook, Primary 5 participated in Cook & Share, Food For Life’s approach to cooking together to reduce waste, learn new skills and enjoy delicious food.

Art Lesson

In Art P5 have been using Styrofoam to create a snowman block print.  First we came up with an image of a snowman then transferred it onto the Styrofoam, pressing into it with a pencil to create an indent.

We then had a block which could be used to produce many prints and make Christmas cards. The class really enjoyed this project, learning about the process of rolling, inking and printing.

Here are the first prints they took from their block….
