What a fun time the bairns had planting trees. Thank you to the helpers for showing us what to do.

As part of our topic on Shetland this term we have been looking at maps. The class walked along to the Stoney Beach and did some exploring. We talked about where in Lerwick it was. We talked about Gulberwick being over the hill and looked at the Ness of Trebister and pointed out the Grottie Buckie beach. Willow and Mrs Henry both found a grottie buckie at the beach and lots of sea glass was also discovered.

We walked along the coast to the Sands of Sound and pointed out the Ness of Sound and how the coast looked from that side. We looked out towards the Dinghy Beach. We had time to dig, explore and enjoy the beach before heading back to the school.

We have looked at our walk on the map and plotted our route.

We began the term with a block of athletics. We took part in a variety of activities across three key areas: running, jumping and throwing. This gave us plenty of opportunities to learn, practise and improve the skills needed for our sports day events.
