We got so lucky with the weather today for our walk around the Sletts!

We were looking for different kinds of birds. This week we are focusing on classifying and identifying Shetland animals, so it was brilliant to be able to go out on a sunny day and put our learning into practice. We have been speaking about colours, size, location and behaviour to help us work out which birds we are looking at.

Hello! Welcome to a new school year. I hope you are all looking forward to it as much as I am.

Here are some weekly routine things that are useful to know:

Art is on Mondays. Please bring an art apron for messy work (a big old tee shirt is perfect.)

PE is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please bring a PE kit to change into, which can be kept in school.

We will use the school library on Thursdays. If you are finished your book and want to change it for a new one, return it by Thursday (though it’s fine to bring it back early, or keep it for as long as it takes to read it.)

Music is on Fridays.

I will send home maths and spelling homework sheets on Mondays to be returned by Fridays. I will also send home a reading record and reading books so they can practice at home. I will write the pages they need to read at home in their books, if you could initial it so I know that’s been done that would be very helpful. Thank you in advance for all your support with their learning at home.

Hello all!

Tomorrow (Wednesday 26th August) we are going to walk down to the Sletts as part of our learning about Shetland wildlife.

Please can you ensure your child comes to school wearing suitable shoes, wearing suncream, and with a jacket? Covering all the Shetland weather possibilities.
