Have you heard the news? There was a moon landing this week! Astronauts from Ollaberry Primary set off on a mission to the moon. Once landed they explored the surface and looked out for aliens.

Before the summer the P4-7 class planted tatties in our two raised beds. The P1-4s helped to harvest one of the beds and found tons of tattie treasure!
They did a fantastic job getting all the tatties dug up. We even managed a little weeding around the front door of the school.
Our pots and the ‘steps’ area at the school are in need of a little TLC. So in the coming weeks P1-4 will be getting on their gardening gloves and sprucing it all up.
If any parents / guardians or members of the community have any suitable plantsĀ or bulbs for our pots we would happily welcome donations.
We hope you enjoyed eating the tatties at home!

We are so glad to welcome back all our pupils to Ollaberry Primary for the start of the new school year.
It’s lovely to see all the happy faces ready to learn and play.
Primary 1 – 4 have been busy getting stuck in to lots of indoor and outdoor activities.
They have had great fun in the ‘Space Station.’ We have lots of future astronauts in the making!

Last week the whole school had an afternoon out at the beach! It was so great to have a ‘mini trip’ away from school. We had lots of fun playing in the ebb, finding shells and fishing!

P4 – 7 were inspired by the work of artist and sculptor Andy Goldsworthy to create land art outdoors using natural materials.
Andy Goldsworthy’s art often features spirals and circles layering different items he finds in the environment.
P4-7 had great fun working together to find materials and create their own pieces of art.

The whole school had great fun deciding on our ‘muckle’ and ‘peerie’ trail paths around the burn. It was great to use the new bridges we helped to design. The bairns worked together in the sunshine to set out and then test out the trails. It was a great workout!

We have been spending time this year learning different Problem Solving Skills.
We have enjoying using the nrich website to try solving different problems and to compare our solutions. It’s fun working on questions together or by ourselves.
These skills are so important for all areas of life. Don’t give up, keep trying and you will get there!
