John Muir Award – AHS

Wider Achievement in S2 and beyond at the Anderson High School, Lerwick

S2 reach the roof of Shetland

In June 2014 the S2 classes began their John Muir Award journey.  They completed some work in Social Subjects on the theme of Wild Shetland.  This included a short history of John Muir himself.

Then each class had their first outdoor experience, walking to the summit of Ronas Hill, Shetland’s highest point.  Unfortunately the weather was not always kind to us, with very few classes getting the chance to enjoy the view!  But we did have environmental scientists along with us to point out geology, plants and animals – making it so much more than just a walk!

Not much of a view, but still a great experience!
