Bursting with Bubbles

We have been having loads of fun with the bubbles recently! There has been lots of discussion about why the star- and heart-shaped wands don’t make star- and heart-shaped bubbles, as well as a lot of investigation about how to make different sized bubbles and different numbers of bubbles.

Methods so far include blowing gently and with big puffs, as well as waving the wands in the air and running with the wands. Some days we are out it is windy enough to just hold the wands up and let the wind do the work for us!

There are some wands which seem to produce better bubbles so we have also been able to do lots of sharing and turn-taking. We have very kind bairns in Happyhansel who often let their friends have a go even if it isn’t quite time yet.

We have been getting lots of exercise running after the bubbles to catch them, and jumping up to pop them, so we have been able to talk about how exercise makes us puffed out and a bit sweaty. Especially some of the teachers…! We have also been putting our hands on our chests and our friends’ wrists to feel our hearts beat faster – this has been investigated further in out doctors surgery of course!

Mrs Geddes has a peerie bubble machine at home so she is going to dig that out and take it in soon.
