What a lovely day it has been today. The children have certainly made the most of the sun today and we have spent most of the day playing outside. There has been lots of water play with filling up jugs and pouring the water down through the different sized pipes. SSE have very kindly replaced the blackboards outside the nursery and the children have been getting stuck into drawing and mark making on them. SSE have also made up two new planters for the nursery and we have been busy filling up one of them ready to start planting. We have been discussing with the children about what they might like to grow in the planters. Some of the suggestions have been, strawberries, carrots, flowers and even a ‘sausage’ plant!
For Friday fun this week we had Music with Mr Blythe. The children listened so well to the music and were picking up the words in the new songs very quickly. They had great fun dancing along to the music and using the beaters as their microphones. The children enjoyed having a turn on the musical instruments and were following the rhythm of the songs so well. It was a really lovely way to end the day.
This past couple of weeks there has been a lot of interest in wild animals. The children have been very keen to learn about where the different animals live and what noises they make. The wild animals have made an appearance in a lot of the play across the nursery environment, playdough, water play, sensory play, art and with their imaginative play.
We have set up a Sweet Shop in the nursery this week and the children have had lots of fun counting out their sweets and filling up their sweet bags. The children have also been using the money to buy their sweets and give each other their change.
The Library Van also came to the nursery for a visit this week. The children all got to pick a book for the nursery library and enjoyed getting to look through the books independently as well as reading them all together.
The children will often take their learning stories out for a look through and like to talk about all the pictures they can see, remembering the event or picking out the different friends that they can see in the pictures. Please remember you are more than welcome to have a look through your child’s learning story at any point.
