Term 1 Week 4

This week we have been working on rounding in maths, utilising our strategy of looking to the right to help us. I hope everyone is feeling confident as they have been doing really well!

We also had another active spelling session where we had to choose challenge cards and could work in groups or solo.

One of our explorer’s choices this week was to become a teacher and present to the class a lesson/quiz about something you enjoy. This linked in with SDG4 Quality Education.  We had a competitive gaming quiz from Dexter and Dylan, and a movie quiz from Rebekah and Kaela! We will fit in more lessons next week 🙂

Term 1 Week 3

Feel like this week has flown by! For our active spelling lesson this week we became paper basketball experts and were able to shoot after spelling our words correctly! This was a lot of fun. We also played pass the word using our class playlist to play a version of ‘pass the parcel’.

As part of our Explorer’s Journals (This or That) one of the options was to design and research lighthouses, which links into our topic.

Term 1 Week 2

Hello everyone! Another week done and dusted. We are finding our feet with routines again after that first week back, and are continuing our theme of working together as a team.

To round off our discussions about vertebrates and invertebrates, we played animal headbands. They used the evidence they have learned to try and guess what they had been given!

We had our first active spelling lesson using stones, shells and chalk to really embed our words into our brains! We worked in groups and enjoyed the sunshine.

Welcome to P6!

Hello everyone!
First week of term 1 complete, and what a fun it was! Miss Mitchell has really enjoyed getting to know everyone and spending time together as a team.

Our first team building activity was using spaghetti and marshmallows to build the tallest tower we could! It had to stay standing for at least 10 seconds… which proved to be tricky.

We also spent time working together to create a safe landing for our eggs. I loved the creativity in the room!
I think we’re going to have a fun year.
