Term 1: Week 2

This week was all about continuing our class and school day routines. We had music with Mrs Peterson for the first time on Tuesday which was really fun. Some of us also had swimming on Monday with Mr Kirkness. We went to the library too and heard a lovely story from Jane.

We started maths this week by learning about ‘greedy zero’ & ‘penguin one’. We also did our first drawing club of P1 about ’10 Little Pirates’. We introduced our topic for this term which is ‘hot & cold’ and had great conversations about food, animals and seasons. On Thursday we did our first play project, which was about ‘family’. We all drew our family and put it up in the classroom.

We continued to work on our fine motor skills with different activities set up in the tuff tray and dough disco. We also practiced writing our names with play dough and with pens. Our song of the week was ‘down in the jungle’.

We made a lovely class display with all the things that make us happy <3

Term 1: Week 1

Hi! Welcome to the Brae Primary 1 blog. We will have a weekly post about what we have been learning about and our highlights of the week.

Week 1 was all about settling in to school. We learned about what we do in the morning when we come in. We learned about our routines each day and how we should treat each other in P1. We did so well with getting our lunch from the canteen and organising ourselves for home time. We also enjoyed PE with Mr Kirkness and visiting the trees area for some outdoor learning. We had fun exploring the classroom, outdoor space and the open area. We worked on our fine motor skills and grip strength through ‘dough disco’ and scissor club. Our song of the week was ‘Humpty Dumpty’.

Here are some lovely pictures of our week! Our ‘learning log’ is the highlights of our week.
