In S2 attend CDT for 2 periods each week. One period is spent on practical craft, the spent on drawing/technology.
Practical Craft
- Woodwork Unit 3
In this unit the pupils will make a product which incorporates a housing joint. Pupils will alter the basic shape to their own design. The importance of safety in the workshop and when using machines is stressed to the pupils. - Metalwork Unit 2
This model will cover bending, shaping and joining of mild steel. - Woodwork Unit 4
A small box will be constructed using lap joins. Pupils will design their own box from this basic shape.
Drawing/Technology
- Drawing Unit 3
Orthographic and Isometric drawing using instruments. Pupils produce plan and elevations of blocks and everyday objects. - Technology Unit 2
Basic Electronic systems are studied using both E& L boards and computer simulation - Sketching Unit 3
Pupils progress to sketching objects in 1 and 2 point perspective. More complex objects are rendered. - CAD Unit 2
AutoCAD is used to produce Orthographic and Isometric drawings. - CAD Unit 3
Pupils use a various packages to produce posters that present their ideas or solutions to given problems. This will involve the transfer of electronic image data between packages
