Safer Internet Day

Yesterday was Safer Internet Day and we talked about  safety on the internet. If you are being cyber bullied tell someone straight away don’t hide it. You can also block the person or report them to the internet police CEOP or even the local police. Also remember to log out of your account because someone could hack your account and say mean things to your friends which look like they are from you and your friend could be cyber bullied too. Even if people are mean to you don’t be mean back because remember always be nice. Its not just children that get cyber bullied adults do too. Having your account hacked isn’t nice and it could happen to anyone even if they are sure that they are safe online so always remember to log out when your done. Stay safe online.

The Planetarium

Today we had Mr Rose but we weren’t at the school we were at the Hall because we were going to the planetarium. We had to go through a dark tunnel to get inside as it was in an inflatable igloo. It was dark inside so that we could see the stars. We had to close our eyes to get adjusted to the dark. We then look at the stars how we would see it at night in Shetland. Mr Rose pointed out the Plough and other star patterns like The Great Bear, The Little Bear, Orian the hunter and Sirius the dog,  we also saw The Seven Sisters. He then showed us the constellations and told us the story of Perseus.

My rain gauge

We  all made a rain gauge. I made it out  of a meringue box.   I put mine out side at half past nine in the morning on Tuesday and looked at it and measured it on Wednesday at half past nine. I had 3 cm of water.

Space Projects

We are doing space as one of our projects this term. Pluto is not a planet it is a dwarf planet, there are eight planets in the solar system, in Mercury a day is like 176 earth days and Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun it is EXTREMELY hot. The ring around Saturn is just rock and ice spun around really quickly. I am looking forward to learning more about space.

Our Education Scotland Report

This week the report from the inspection we had came out. We were really pleased with the report. They said we were ambitious learners and when we started something  we were determined to finish it. She said that we were all independent learners and very supportive of each other.

On Christmas eve me and my sister set out our stockings and our Santa bags and we give him his snack. People also visit the houses before bed time. This Christmas morning we all had to wake up at 6.00am to open our presents with my dad. I got lots of really nice presents from Santa. Then all of my family come to ours at lunchtime for Christmas dinner and we had a HUGE turkey. After everyone had left we waited for my dad to come home. When my dad came home we opened all of our presents from friends and family.

We are learning about space this term and were are going to do it with Mr Rose. Mr Rose is Shetland’s Field Studies Officer and helps us when ever we do space. The bit about space I want to research is planets that are not in our solar system. I want to learn about the star conconstellations.
