Yesterday two Kenyan ladies came, they came to talk about Crofting Connections. They were called Nancy and Agnes. Nancy worked as a teacher and Agnes was a community worker and politician. Two other ladies came their names were Pam Rodway (head of Crofting Connections) and Mrs Simpson (head of Dunrossness School) We had shown them the garden and we had gone down to The Old Haa.

I learned that…

• Some Plants in Kenya germinate within 5 or 6 days
• PiliPili Manga means Black Pepper in Kiswahili
• Kiswahili is one of the languages Kenyans speak
• The children learn how to hunt from as soon as they are able to walk
• The children learn what fruits they can eat from as soon as they can walk
• The most common fruit in Kenya are Mangoes
•  They catch Gazelle
• They have animals that look like otters. They live in Lake Victoria and are smaller.
• Pam sends out a lot of the seeds that we grow

We came back to the school and entered the classroom. We sat down and Agnes and Nancy sang and played Phoebe’s drum. They sang a greeting song and Cultural song both in Kiswahili and just before they left the sang if your happy and you know it in English. I really enjoyed it!
