Online learning journals
Last session we launched Showbie, an online platform to enhance learning, teaching, assessment and reporting. This has replaced our paper based Learning Journeys which were used previously. Showbie enhances the children’s ability to access feedback as comments can be made in a range of ways, including through voice recordings or written text. You can access your child’s Showbie profile at any time, therefore can stay up to date with their current learning and use this to spark discussions with your child at home.
Each class has its own Communication Group and information is shared here regularly with you. This is where, for example, you will find the Curriculum Overviews, home learning such as the Building Resilience and your child’s weekly spelling. As we continue to embrace Showbie this is where you will find all the information about your child’s class.
School staff have been planning this approach to teaching and learning since last session and have engaged in relevant training. We are delighted that by introducing and implementing Showbie across all classes, including ELC, we can effectively address some of the feedback you gave us during the end of session questionnaire related to knowing where your child is in their learning and how we assess their progress. You wanted your child’s learning and progress to be more visible, accessible and frequent, and Showbie will enable this in an effective and parent/child friendly way.
When you are on Showbie look out for the following symbols:
These symbols will help to highlight posts which have a comment attached to them. To see this comment, click on the post (which may be a document or photo) and the comment will appear. Comments may be in the form of typed text or voice notes.
If there is anyone who still needs support with connecting to their Showbie account, please get in touch with the school at your earliest convenience as the profiles will be used to support conversations with you about your child’s progress.
