Welcome to Primary P.6/7 and Mrs. Harris.

Our Primary 6/7 class is made up of 22 amazing pupils, 10 boys and 12 girls. We are a happy, calm bunch who turn up every day ready to learn and play hard! Miss Cain shares our great teaching and takes our class on a Thursday, and Mrs. Hendry supports in our class regularly.

We have settled well into our new class with our familiar friends, but also now finding new friendships within our room.

Our first topic is Europe, and where we are learning about geography, history, environmental features and few other areas within Europe we chose – famous water parks and celebrities!

Approach in teaching maths will continue using Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPA) methods where children will break down abstract concepts into workable steps that build deeper understanding. South Ayrshire Reads approach will also be continued as the basis of our reading teaching, developing phonics, fluency, vocabulary knowledge and comprehension.

We also love and appreciate the time to develop skills in mindfulness and have a daily quiet time, straight after lunch, where we enjoy some relaxing music or a guided meditation.  It’s so peaceful and recharges us for the afternoon!

 

We are really looking forward to a great year ahead and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish!
