Learning about Henri Matisse in P3!

Happy New Year and welcome back!

We have been learning about the French artist Henri Matisse.  We looked at his famous painting ‘Vase of Flowers’ and have been creating our own ‘Vase of Flowers’ using pastels.   Photos of our creations will follow shortly!

In maths we have been learning about the importance of standard units of measure including centimetres, metres, litres, millilitres, kilograms and grams.  We have been measuring different items using rulers and have been estimating the lengths of different things around our classroom.  It would be great if you could continue the learning at home and talk about the length of different things around your home.  We are still focusing on learning our 3 and 6 times tables.  Lots of pupils have been impressing everyone with their knowledge of the 8 and 9 times tables.  Well done!

All pupils in P3 who entered our ‘Crocodile’ Burns competition poem did an outstanding job.  Judging was very difficult and I encourage all pupils who entered to enter again in P4.  Thank you very much for all your hard effort!

Our topic this term is Egyptians and we will be researching and learning lots of new things about Egyptian way of life.  Homework has been issued and mini fact files are due to be handed in on the 10th March.

Gym days in P3 this term remain on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Thank you for your continued support.
