5.6.20 Update

Just to let you know that we have been making preparations for a safe return to school in August. Teachers are currently organising transition information about every child ready to be passed to their new teacher. We plan to inform you on your child’s class teacher next week and will then be in touch regarding transition for our new Primary 1 pupils and arrangements for our Primary 7s. who are moving on to Secondary. In the meantime, please encourage as many of our children  as possible to have fun and take part in our Cluster Sports Week “The Carrick Games”… Go TEAM CAIRN!

19.5.20 Update

The teachers are really missing their pupils. Over the next couple of weeks they will be phoning round the children in their class to say “hello!”

We completely appreciate how stressful home schooling can be, as many of us who normally find teaching a class a joy, are finding trying to teach our own children at home far more challenging! We know it is hard to keep children engaged and there are many difficulties  that online learning brings. Please only do what you can and let us know if we can help. The health and well-being of our families is priority.

Following our “Teacher’s on Tour” visits we are putting together a video of all our pupils. If we were unable to take a photo at the time and you would like to be a part of the video please email your photo to

As always we are picking up the school phone line 01655 885 802 if you need anything.

24.4.20 Update

“Teachers on Tour!”

Miss Flint and Mrs Kay had an amazing trip round Maybole yesterday and were delighted to see so many of you. We will be back again in Maybole on Tuesday 28th April and Wednesday 29th April. We will be making our way round as many of the streets as possible. We will leave from the school grounds around 10:45am for a few hours each of these days. We will follow Ryan’s delivery routes. You won’t miss us in our bright clothes! More details of our routes will follow.

We are missing you all.  If you see us, we would love it if you could give us a wave from the window or garden to let us know you are all ok. We will take a photo of you if you are happy to pose for us. Feel free to wave flags, posters and teddies etc. We  got lots of photos yesterday  and will hopefully get more next week then we will share them with you all.  If we miss you this time we will be back round again.

***Children Entitled to a Free School Meal – Update 16.4.20

If you contacted the school during the Easter holidays regarding free school meal boxes, I have forwarded your details to the South Ayrshire Team who are organising delivery for you. Due to the increase in demand and the holiday period it may mean your first box may not arrive until  week beginning 20th April.  It will then be a weekly delivery to your home . ( If you are struggling in the meantime,  please do not hesitate to contact the 10:10 trust on 0333 344 4156 on you can find them on Facebook).

Hi Everyone,

It is now the Easter holidays. Your teachers will not be posting any more work online for two weeks. There is however an Easter sheet on the school website with lots of fun activities you can do with your family if you are feeling a bit bored.

I just want to thank everyone for their patience as we have all tried to adapt to online learning. A huge thank you to all the teachers as they have learned lots of new ICT skills as many of you and your parents will have too.

If you or your family need anything during the holidays I will still be able to answer the school phone number 01655 885802 between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. There is also useful support numbers in the parent section on our website if anyone needs them.

The staff are missing you all and look forward to getting back online with you on Monday 20th April.

Happy Easter Everyone from all the team at Cairn Primary!

Stay safe and well.

Welcome to the Cairn Primary School website.

Each person in our school, from Nursery to Primary 7, is an important individual and we hope our school will be a happy, caring and stimulating place for all. We need the assistance and co-operation of all parents and carers to achieve this. It is vitally important for your child’s education and well-being that good, positive communication is established between home and school.

We already have several means of communication between home and school. However, to further enhance lines of communication we have created a school website. The website will help familiarise parents and carers with some of the educational, organisational and social aspects of our school. We hope you find it informative and useful and that it will encourage and enhance the partnership which already exists between home and school.

This is an exciting means of communication. We hope it will enable you to become more involved in your child’s education to ensure that that your child’s primary education is both happy and rewarding.
