Riley and George started their ICT lunchtime club today and it was a great success! Pupils played games on Cool Maths Games and Scratch. Next week Riley and George are organising a Scratch tournament during their lunchtime club. Keep up the good work Riley and George!
P1-7 have been busy tidying the shed, collecting sticks for the bug hotel, moving sand in to the nursery and outdoor classroom and filling the planters with soil. It’s been a very productive afternoon!
Oscar and Rhiannon started their Hot Wheels Cars Technology lunchtime club today and it was very successful! They had so many pupils wanting to join that they have had to limit each session to 8 people. The pupils enjoyed playing with the jumps and ramps.
Our school captains and vice captains met with Mrs Templeton on Friday. The captains and vice captains gathered the views and thoughts from their house groups to share with Mrs Templeton and they worked together to see how they could improve our school. Pupil voice is important at Ballantrae primary and this ties in with the UNCRC(United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) article 12 – Children have the right to give their opinion freely on issues that affect them. Adults should listen and take children seriously.
The whole school and nursery took part in an outdoor learning afternoon at the river today. The pupils found insects and enjoyed looking at them through the magnifying glasses. They also did some tree rubbings and outdoor art. It was lovely to see all the pupils playing together and enjoying the autumn sunshine.
Our new class novel in primary 5/6/7 is ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. The pupils have enjoyed predicting what they think could happen using the blurb and front cover. They have enjoyed reading up to chapter five together and discussing what has happened so far. Today the pupils drew labelled and detailed drawings using the descriptions from the story so far.
Primary 5/6/7 have been enjoying music lessons with Mr Welsh. This is a mixture of online teaching and in person teaching. Pupils have been learning to play some tunes on the Glockenspiels.
