We have been having lots of fun learning in Primary 1/2. We hope you enjoy the pictures showing some of the work we have been doing in class.
This morning P1-7 walked down to the river to take part in some outdoor learning activities. The children found bugs, insects and flowers and used magnifying glasses to explore them more closely. The children also made some autumn jewellery, had an autumn scavenger hunt and made homes for birds. A fun and adventurous morning was had by all.
P1-7 have been busy tidying the shed, collecting sticks for the bug hotel, moving sand in to the nursery and outdoor classroom and filling the planters with soil. It’s been a very productive afternoon!
Oscar and Rhiannon started their Hot Wheels Cars Technology lunchtime club today and it was very successful! They had so many pupils wanting to join that they have had to limit each session to 8 people. The pupils enjoyed playing with the jumps and ramps.
We have had an extremely busy week in Primary 1/2. We have made pumkin soup, learning to develop our chopping skills and following instructions. We had a lovely outdoor learning afternoon looking for signs of autumn and collecting lovley things to make autumn jelly. We continue to learn new sounds and numbers and some of us have been playing school in free play putting into real life practice our learning! Primary 2 have loved learning their numbers to 100 this week and are doing a great job using a 100 square to find numbers. Primary 1 have been ordering numbers. This week our story writing was linked to the story Room on the Broom and we had some very creative brooms in our stories. We loved melting our frozen hands today, exploring different ways to free the hidden treasures inside. The week ended well with a chocolate apple and a disco on the playground.
Everyone came together this morning to enjoy some pumpkin soup and bread. Thank you to P1/2 and P5/6/7 for making these. The rain didn’t stop us enjoying our Halloween/Autumn scavenger hunts. The children have been busy across the classes participating in a number of activities.
Ivy house enjoyed their reward afternoon at the park and MUGA on Friday afternoon. Great fun was had by all!
We have been very busy over the last few weeks. We have been continuing to learn about the sun, moon and Earth. We explored how craters are formed on the moon using special moon dust and marbles. In literacy we are continuing to learn new sounds, tricky words and developing our writing skills. We have enjoyed playing games on the playground helping us to recognise numbers and counting. Mrs Lorimer visited us with some honey from her own bees which we all enjoyed tasting. We have been problem solving, working together, constructing and having a great time in the outdoor classroom too.
The whole school and nursery took part in an outdoor learning afternoon at the river today. The pupils found insects and enjoyed looking at them through the magnifying glasses. They also did some tree rubbings and outdoor art. It was lovely to see all the pupils playing together and enjoying the autumn sunshine.
