Child Protection

At Alloway Primary School and Early Years Centre we continually strive to keep children safe and protected from harm.  This is the responsibility of all.  We  recognise our legal and moral duty to promote the well-being of children, and protect them from harm.  We believe that every child regardless of age has at all times and in all situations a right to feel safe and protected from any situation or practice that results in a child being physically or emotionally upset or damaged.

In our School Mrs Fiona Meney (HT) is the Child Protection                        Co-ordinator and Mrs Lauren Miller (DHT) is the Depute Child Protection Co-ordinator.

We have polices and procedures that we follow in order to keep all children safe.  All school staff are trained in Child Protection and Safeguarding annually with further updates provided throughout the session.

Visitors to our school

At Alloway Primary we display our Child Protection information in our reception area and throughout the school.  All visitors to the school must sign in and read the Child Protection information.  All visitors must wear a visitors badge.

Prevent Process

What is Prevent?
Prevent is a safety net against radicalisation.
It aims to intervene early, to stop people from becoming
terrorists or supporting terrorism.
Prevent deals with all terrorist ideologies, from Islamist to
Extreme Right-Wing.
Prevent is delivered at a local level by experts who understand
the risks in their communities. Partners include local authorities,
police, education, healthcare and charities.
For people who are susceptible to radicalisation, Prevent can
provide personalised interventions to help them move away
from dangerous ideologies.

South Ayrshire Council has a Prevent Process in place.  Information about this process is included in our annual Child Protection training for staff. All SLT have taken the Home Office Prevent training course.

In Alloway Primary School the Prevent Co-ordinator is Mrs Fiona Meney (HT) with Mrs Lauren Miller (DHT) deputising.
