RRS COMMITTEE 2019-2020

We are delighted to say that Alloway Primary School  achieved our Gold Award as a Rights Respecting School in June 2017. Our Gold Award banner is proudly displayed in our foyer.

We will be continuing our partnership with Bandawe Primary after the success of the Alloway Malawi Mission 2018! Mrs Butler, Miss Rainey and Mrs Wylie shared their wonderful experiences of visiting with Bandawe with all pupils during Malawi Week 2018 and the committee enjoyed planning for our Malawi/RRS Week in September 2019. Pupils are keen to make a difference and help all children get their rights.

Committee rationale for 2019/20:

We are the Rights Respecting Schools Committee. We are made up of pupils from P4-7 and we are sometimes joined by pupils from the “Little People Big Voices” group in P1 – 3.

Our main focus is to make sure that everyone at Alloway Primary School knows that children have rights. We learn about these rights in our classes, at assembly and through our partnership with Bandawe School in Malawi.

We are always looking for ways to help children understand their rights in our local community as well.

This year we have raised money to help our friends in Malawi with their hostel renovations. We had a disco during Malawi Week to raise funds for this. We also collected jumpers to send to the people in Bandawe so they have something warm to wear in winter.
