This week in the Assessment and Development Class we are focusing on the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’.

We read and discussed the story before sequencing the story pictures. We all enjoyed discussing and categorising the lotto cards before playing a game of lotto! The playdough boards are also great fun!

Today the Assessment and Development Class went out on a trip to the Odeon at Braehead (Soar) with primary one.

We all had a FANTASTIC time! We loved the movie and really enjoyed joining in with some of the songs too!

This week in the Assessment and Development Class we have been enjoying the story of ‘Sleeping Beauty’.  We have all worked hard to sequence the story, play pairs games and work with the play-dough boards to make a spinning wheel as well as the great big forest around the castle!

Today in the Assessment and Development Class we learned about Bonfire Night. We listened to the story about Guy Fawkes and talked about the gunpowder plot.

We listened to the firework code and remembered;

• we should never touch fireworks
• we need to keep well away from fireworks
• we should wear gloves if a grown up gives us a sparkler
• keep all our pets inside.

We decided to make a large bonfire using paints and tissue paper. We all worked together to create a beautiful bonfire. We then decided to make fireworks. We were all very creative and enjoyed gluing and sticking lots of collage materials on to our fireworks!

We stuck all of out fantastic work up on the wall!

Today we listened to the story of A Halloween Treat for Polly. We then cut out the pictures and sequenced the story. We are all getting better at cutting.

This afternoon we made scary skeletons! We cut art straws and stuck them on to black paper! Look at our great work!

Last week the Assessment and Development Class joined in lots of spooky tasks and activities for Halloween! We read lots of Halloween stories and made spooky spider’s webs, pumpkins and bats! We all enjoyed the ‘Room on the Broom’ story.

On Friday we had a Halloween party! We all dressed up and looked FANTASTIC! We joined West Primary for a Halloween parade around the school! After the parade we had a Halloween party in the classroom! We made spooky biscuits, ‘dooked’ for apples and played party games with the balloons! We all had a ‘Frightfully Fabulous’ time!

After school we are all going home to get dressed up and go ‘trick or treating’ Boo!

Today the tiger came to tea! We all had a great tea party. We made sandwiches and enjoyed eating the cakes! The tiger didn’t eat too much!

The school closes tomorrow at 3pm for the mid term break. We look forward to welcoming the children back to the Language Centre on Monday 24th October.

This morning in the Assessment and Development Class we iced some cakes for our tea party tomorrow. We had to do lots of ‘good talking’ giving each other ‘good instructions’ to make the icing before icing the cakes. We are hoping that the Tiger Comes to Tea!

This week in the Assessment and Development Class we have been talking all about Autumn. We have been out on sound walks – listening for sounds outside, Autumn walks – looking for signs of Autumn before making lots of Autumn pictures.
