P7 Sky Sports Event

On Tuesday 28 March all Primary Schools in the Castlehead High School Cluster have been invited to participate in a sports and healthy living event. Mr Macdonald, the Headteacher at Castlehead, has organised transport and lunch will be provided, however your child can bring a packed lunch if they prefer.  Children should come to school dressed in comfortable sports clothing and as some activities are outdoors they must have a waterproof jacket.

Videos from our Enterprise Showcase

We had a great afternoon showing each other the ideas we had come up with to promote World Book Day. Each year group thought of something that could promote reading. Have a look at our videos below.

Tell us your views on the Pupil Equity Fund

You may be aware that West Primary School has been awarded a large sum of money through the Pupil Equity Fund by the Scottish Government. During the in-service day I consulted with staff regarding the most effective ways to spend this money in order to raise attainment within the school.

I would like to consult with parents and carers as part of the consultation process and would be grateful for your input.

There will be a meeting on Monday 20th February at school from 7pm – 8pm. I would be very grateful if you could attend.

Please return the tear-off slip pupils were given by Friday 17th February.

Eco Day – Thursday 9th February

We are having our annual Eco Day on Thursday 9 February.  Children should come in their own clothes on that day and wear something green if possible.

Do not go out and buy something for the occasion.  Children DO NOT need any money for donations on this day.

We will be busy gardening and litter picking (weather permitting).  We will be making bird feeders, designing mini gardens in groups, enjoying a visit from “Silly Billy” for the infants and raising our new flags.  Any adults or grandparents who would like to help out on the day should let the office know.

I’m sure the boys and girls will have a fun day while engaging in environmental awareness issues.

Can I take this opportunity to remind you that school will be closed on Friday 10 February and re-open on Wednesday 15 February 2017.  Enjoy the break!

P3 & P4 Reading Cafe

There will be a reading café for P3 and P4 children and accompanying adults on a Wednesday after school in the school library and technology room from 3pm to 4.15pm.

During this time children and adults will explore different books and authors and enjoy cooking together.  The café is all about having fun together through reading for pleasure, sharing an activity and enjoying the goodies together at the end.

The café will be run in 4 week blocks starting on 1st February.  The blocks will be in February, March and May.  Children must attend with an adult but this does not need to be a parent.

Please return the letter the children have received if you would like to attend with your child before Wednesday 25th January.

All activities are free.
