Bambinelli Sunday

Yesterday we celebrated a special day with our wider school community at St Margaret’s Parish. Pupils from P7 attended and submitted their letter of commitment to Bishop John as part of their preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. P6 pupils attended also, and enrolled in the Pope Francis Faith Award scheme.

Our P4 and P5 pupils brought along the cribs they made as part of their learning in class about Bambinelli Sunday. Fr Paul gifted them all a blessed Baby Jesus figurine to be treasured at home.

Our pupils from the upper school also participated in their new role as part of the church choir and were absolutely fantastic as were our P4 pupils who lead the offertory procession.

It was a lovely service and a special reminder of how important it is to us here at St David’s to be part of the St Margaret’s parish community. Thank you to all the staff, pupils and families who supported it as well as the parishioners and Fr Paul.

Good job!

One of our pupils shared their fantastic progress in handwriting today. He was really proud to show me how much he has improved and what a lovely way to start the week. Well done!

Community Heroes

We have been blown away with the kindness and generosity of our school community today who have donated food items for our local Foodbank.

The House of Arran came up with the idea and felt it was a good way to make a difference to their local community whilst they could have some fun by coming to school dressed in their PJs and Onesies.

Huge thank you to everyone who has supported us to make a difference today.  #community

St Andrew’s Day Family Celebration

Today we had our first Together Ceilidh to celebrate the feast of our patron saint, St Andrew.

We enjoyed a family quiz in the classroom areas  with a Scottish theme and the Richardson family showed off their geography skills by completing the map of Scotland.

In the hall, Mr Kerr treated us to a traditional bagpipe performance before showing off some new skills as our Ceilidh-caller. Our families, pupils and staff showed off their fancy footwork and most importantly we all had a fun afternoon together.

Thank you so much to all of the school community for making it a fun event!

Active Schools Dance

Today I was invited along to the final Active Schools Dance club to watch the girls perform the dance routine they have been working on. It was lovely to see everyone participating in an activity which they clearly love and finding a way to have an active lifestyle in the future.

We have some very talented dancers! Fantastic way of demonstrating our shared value of Together.

Assembly 22/11/19

We were joined at assembly this week by Melissa who is our new Places2Be school counsellor. She told us all about the Places2Talk service and answered all of our questions. To allow your child to participate in this service, please return the letter that came home last week. If you have any questions or need a new form, please contact the office.

Our pupils of the week were celebrated by our whole school for demonstrating our school values in their daily lives and being great role models. We are very proud of them.

Our Star of the Week shared his recent achievements as a member of Thorn Athletic and the recognition he received at his recent Football Presentation. We love to hear about our children’s achievements outside of school – please encourage your child to share their successes with us at our weekly celebration assembly.

Some of our upper school pupils treated to us to a performance of a song called ‘I am Amazing’ which they had been looking at as part of Anti-Bullying week. The rest of the school loved it and picked up on some of the very important messages in the song.

Finally, we were treated to a fantastic story read to us by Kerry from West Johnstone Early Learning and Childcare Centre. She brought along the classic story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea to share with us and mark the end of Book Wek Scotland 2019. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us by joining us to read or coming along to our events. We hope we have encouraged you all to make a little more time for reading in your day.

#Together

Today our campus choir and House Captains welcomed some very special visitors to our campus. We welcomed visitors from the local authority, Education Scotland and the Quality Assurance Department in Malta.

We told them all about our joint campus, our community and how we work together. They were very impressed with what they saw and even experienced some of our Scottish country dancing rehearsals ahead of Friday’s big event.

Don’t forget to return your Family entry for our Together value – the deadline is tomorrow,  27th November 2019. Voting begins on Thursday and will close on Friday. We will be announcing the winner next week.

Catholic Education Fortnight

As we embark on this annual celebration, we would like to share the Autumn Newsletter for Parents from SCES (Scottish Catholic Education Service). Please click on the image below to access it:

The theme this year is ‘Promoting Gospel Values’ and the children will be learning about this in class – why not ask them what they have been learning?

Over the next few weeks, you will be hearing from our Cluster colleagues from St Benedict’s in our parishes and you will also find our Cluster Newsletter.
